The faculty and staff of the Department of Psychology are so proud of the determination and accomplishments of our Spring 2021 graduating class! As you move on to the next phase of your lives, we hope that all of you will fondly remember your time at ECU and never forget that you are always a part of the Pirate Nation. More importantly, as we all do our best to deal with these difficult times, remember the words of renowned developmental psychologist Erik Erikson: “Life doesn’t make any sense without interdependence. We need each other, and the sooner we learn that, the better for us all.”

A Message from the Undergraduate Program Director

Dr. Nate Vietor, Undergraduate Program Director in the Department of Psychology, offers his congratulations to all graduates! In this brief video, Dr. Vietor shares his thoughts on the value of a degree in psychology for any future career. He offers special congratulations to first generation college graduates for the obstacles and odds they have overcome. Dr. Vietor encourages all graduates to stay in touch with the Department of Psychology.


A Message from the Neuroscience Program Director

Dr. Tuan Tran, the Neuroscience Program Director, offers his congratulations to neuroscience and all psychology majors. He congratulates neuroscience majors on their ambition and work to articulate the language of neuroscience. He challenges graduates to make yourself better and use your brains to make the human condition better.


Outstanding Undergraduate Thesis

The Department of Psychology congratulates graduating senior William Guiler for winning the Foundation Account Award for Outstanding Undergraduate Thesis!

The Department of Psychology selects one graduating senior to be the recipient of the Foundation Account Award for producing the outstanding undergraduate thesis. Dr. Lisa Campbell presents this year’s award. William completed a thesis entitled “A Neuropsychological Profile of College Students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder”. Please take a moment to watch the brief video describing the scope and importance of his thesis project and his excellent promise for a career in neuroscience research. The Department of Psychology congratulates graduating senior William Guiler for winning the Outstanding Senior Award!

The Department of Psychology selects one graduating senior to be recognized as the outstanding senior in psychology based on their academic achievement, professional accomplishments, campus involvement, and career goals.
